Description

The lush green hills, the diverse flora and fauna and the majestic view of the shivalik ranges and the Doon Valley attracts thousands of tourists both domestic and international to mussoorie each year. Mussoorie is popular not only for its scenic beauty but it has also developed into an important centre of education and business. Mussoorie is famous for the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of education where officers are trained for Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service.  

During British Rule Mussoorie was a recovering centre for soldiers and was established at Landour, the two towns soon merged. Many substantial homes appeared, severely situated on the mountainside, some belonging to Maharajas and others belonging to more humble residents. By 1842 the place consisted of 42 houses, a hotel and five barracks. The following for the new resort came from far and wide and it was soon dubbed ‘Queen of the Hill Stations’ due to its spectacular and varied mountain scenery.

The "Queen of the Hills", Mussoorie is situated at an average altitude of 6950ft or 2005.5 mts from the sea level in the state of Uttarakhand, India. The beautiful city of Mussoorie is spread over an area of 64.25 kms in the Dehradun district of Uttarakhand.

The south of the hill station is occupied by the picturesque Doon Valley and the Shivalik Ranges that invigorates the beauty of the place. As far as population of the town is concerned, according to the census report of 2001, the population of the place was approx 26,069. However, at present, Mussoorie is inhabited by approx 34,000 people. Mussoorie receives an average rainfall of 180cms per annum.

Summer Festival 
A colorful festival, organized by Nagar Palika Parishad of Mussoorie, the Summer festival is immensely popular among the locals and the visitors. Number of events such as debates, seminars, folk dance performances, magic shows, game shows and cultural parades make the entire festival a great colorful display of spirit and talent.

 The Bhadraj Fair
Another glittering fair which is organized by Bhadraj temple usually held during Shravan Sankranti every year. This fair is attended by a large number of devotees and it does attract a huge number of tourists. The locals also take part joyfully in this fair.

Itinerary

Destinations Covered: Delhi – Mussoorie – Dehradun.

Itenarary:

Day 01: Delhi - Mussoorie (281 Kms – 6-7 Hrs)
Arrive at Mussoorie, transfer to hotel, rest of the day is free for Leisure. Overnight stay at hotel at Mussoorie.

Day 02: Mussoorie
After having a breakfast, visit to Kempty fall, Municipal garden, Gun hill,  Company Garden, Mallroad etc.Overnight stay at hotel at Mussoorie.

Day 03: Mussoorie – Dehradun (36 Kms – 02:00 Hrs.)
After having breakfast, Drive to Dehradun. Later visit to FRI, Tapkeshwar temple, Dear Park & Shiv ratan kander, famous Paltan Bazar. In the evening proceed back to homeward.

How to reach: By personal car or taxi, Volvo deluxe/semi-deluxe, Dehradun railway station, Jolly grant airport is about 24 km from dehradun.
